Check OS display scaling (e.g., 150%). This reduces the logical resolution reported to the browser. Also check browser zoom settings.
Check that the OS output is set to 4K. If you are mirroring a lower-resolution laptop screen, the external monitor will look blurry.
Check your cable. Some high resolution + high refresh combinations require DisplayPort 1.4 or HDMI 2.1. Older cables may limit you to 60Hz.
Not reliably. Browsers see the logical resolution and scaling factor provided by the OS. If scaling is applied, the physical resolution cannot be guaranteed.
This is common on Windows laptops (e.g., 125% or 150% scaling) to make text readable on high-DPI screens without making everything tiny.
Browser frame timing is affected by system load, power saving, background tabs, and browser behavior. It is an approximation, not a direct hardware query.
